Mehndi / Henna Tatoo

Mhendi is a henna based paste which can be applied to the hands and feet as decoration for a wedding or other celebration. More recently the trend is for mhendi to be applied further up the forearm also, adding to the look. Mhendi takes some time to dry off, so, if you order Mhendi be prepared to sit still for a while. It can be applied from a kind of squeegie, similar to an icing bag. These can usually be ordered with the mhendi itself. The henna is semi permananent and will last several weeks, although it will begin to fade quite quickly. Applying Mhendi is an art in itself and requires much practice to achieve teh kind of designs pictured on this site. In fact, there are many professional designers who do nothing but Mhendi designs full time, though, there are still many people able to do it on a more informal basis.
